   Volunteers

Some of the most visible and valuable people at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital are the volunteers. Together with our staff, volunteers aid in the endeavor to meet the health care needs of our community. Nearly 120 men and women from the surrounding area are members of Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital's Volunteer program, and they're always looking for individuals who share their commitment to service to join the Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital family.

Who Volunteers at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital?

Volunteers at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital are men and women, ranging in age from teenage to senior citizen. They are homemakers, students, retirees as well as professionals holding full- and part-time jobs who are interested in giving back to the community through volunteerism. Volunteers work in many departments in the hospital and have various responsibilities, such as escorting patients, clerical duties, and working in the various departments helping families and patients.

The Junior Volunteer Program

Interested high school and college students (age 14 and older) have the opportunity to volunteer at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital during a six-week summer program. This program offers young people a great opportunity to learn more about health care professions as well as the importance of volunteering.

The application period for the Summer 2008 Junior Volunteer Program is now closed and applications are no longer being accepted. Please contact the Gift Shop at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital at 281-897-3186 to learn how you may apply for next year's program.

Applications are reviewed and selected before the end of the school year. All junior applicants must complete an application, which includes a short essay, and if selected, a TB test will be required as well as an orientation.

Volunteering involves communicating with people in need, keeping busy, sharing interests, and extending a helping hand.

How Can You Become a Volunteer?

Call the Gift Shop at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital at 281-897-3186 for further information. You will be invited to complete an application. Through your personal interview, the Membership Chairman will help direct your energies, talents and interests into the proper assignment. Before you begin, you will be required to get a TB test, background check will be completed, and you must attend a hospital orientation session.

New volunteers are expected to commit to spend at least one year volunteering at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital in order to be accepted.
