March Health eNewsletter
Colorectal cancer is the third most common type of cancer. Nearly 150,000 people in the U.S. are expected to be diagnosed with it this year, and more than 50,000 will die of the disease. This month during Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital would like to encourage you to
learn the facts about colon cancer.
Statistics show that the risks for colorectal cancer can be reduced through early detection, and the key to that is timely screenings. The American Cancer Society recommends adults be screened starting at age 50. If you have a family or personal history that puts you at higher risk for colorectal cancer, you may need earlier or more frequent screenings. Ask your doctor when and how often you should have one done.
