Employees and volunteers at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital will celebrate this holiday season by supporting three worthy causes benefiting children and adults living both near and far. During the week of December 15 through 19, employees will collect donations of non-perishable food to help feed needy Houstonians, a variety of items for military men and women, and toys for disadvantaged children.
“We are making the holidays a celebration of what can happen when people work together for a greater good,” says Terry Wheeler, chief executive officer at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital. “Through a series of special events we are making an effort to benefit the health of our community and extend the warmth and geniality of this festive time of year. These contributions will certainly make a difference to someone facing hunger, a child in our area, or military personnel.”
Employees are collecting donations of unwrapped toys for children of all ages on Tuesday, December 16 and non-perishable food items, such as canned goods, jelly, pastas, boxed potatoes, and stuffing and gravy mix, on Friday, December 19. Toys and food will be donated to the Cypress Assistance Ministries, a local non-profit organization that helps families become self-sufficient through a variety of life enhancing services.
On Wednesday, December 17, employees will collect items benefiting Operation Military Embrace, non-profit organization dedicated to assisting members of the military and their families in times of need. Members of the hospital staff are collecting batteries, personal care items, writing utensils, note pads, full size umbrellas, white socks, disposable cameras, greeting cards, crossword puzzles, and baseball caps or t-shirts.
