Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital announced that it has received three CIGNA quality designations and three Centers of Excellence designations for 2008. Center of Excellence designations were earned by Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital for heart attack, gastric bypass and laparoscopic gall bladder removal. Quality designations were received for stroke, adult pneumonia and vaginal delivery.
“We are pleased that our hospital has been recognized by CIGNA for the quality care that we provide,” said Terry Wheeler, chief executive officer of Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital. “These designations are evidence of the high standard of care we deliver every day, and they highlight just some of the many services offered by Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital that allow the community to stay close to home for quality health care.”
These quality designations mean that the hospital has met rigorous quality criteria based on nationally recognized medical standards and expert advice. The Center of Excellence designations mean that the hospital met CIGNA’s highest standards for quality and efficiency.
“I’m proud of the efforts of our employees and medical staff in achieving these designations and for providing quality patient care,” adds Wheeler.
The CIGNA designations are based on the hospital’s effectiveness in treating the selected condition or performing the procedure. The designations are based in part of a hospital’s CMS Hospital Compare measures, Leapfrog Patient Safety Measures, mortality and complication rates.
