Stroke continues to be the third leading cause of death in the United States. In fact, according to the American Stroke Association, someone dies of a stroke every three to four minutes. Educating the community on the risks and warning signs of stroke and embracing faster stroke care continue to be a mission of Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital. Collaborating with local Emergency Medical Services (EMS), the Stroke Team at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital has implemented new processes for patients suffering from stroke to receive care that meets the guidelines of the Stroke Council of the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association.
