Take a deep breath and blow out the candles on the birthday cake, all 25 of them. That’s how many years Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital has been providing quality health care to the Cy-Fair community.
Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital opened in 1983 with 100 employees and 30 physicians on the medical staff. Today the hospital is the third largest employer in the area with over 825 employees and has a medical staff of 425. And the hospital is not finished growing.
A significant facility expansion project is currently underway that will add a new entrance with a modern façade, spacious lobby with additional seating, registration desk and gift shop. A remodeled neonatal intensive care unit will increase the number of special care nursery beds to 15 and add two private sleep rooms for parents. This marks the third renovation the maternity unit has undergone since the hospital opened to meet the increasing demands of a growing community, which now includes nearly 733,000 residents in more than 760 existing subdivisions.

As the population surrounding Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital has matured, so has the hospital. Women who were born at the hospital are returning to have babies of their own. Twenty-five years ago, most patients came to the hospital with fairly routine needs. While those same services are still offered, additional specialties are now available.
Residents can take advantage of a wide range of medical services, including open heart surgery, sleep medicine, hyperbaric medicine and blood management. Standard services continue to be offered at the hospital, many of which have earned a national reputation for clinical excellence. The hospital ranked among the top five percent in the nation for overall pulmonary services and top 10 statewide for overall bariatric surgery for two consecutive years, and ranks among the top five in Texas for overall critical care for 2008 according to HealthGrades, a leading source for independent health care quality information. Five-star ratings also were awarded for the treatment of heart failure for 2008, stroke for three years in a row, and maternity services for four consecutive years.
Caring for the community extends far beyond the hospital. For years Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital has been recognized by many nonprofit charities for their support. In conjunction with Tenet Healthcare Foundation, the hospital has developed two healthcare scholarships through the North Harris Montgomery County College District Foundation and Cypress Fairbanks Educational Foundation. Funds have been provided to Cy-Fair Independent School District Exchange City and staff members have served as speakers and judges for various school events.
Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital also provides community support through screenings and educational programs at local corporations, churches and civic groups. The hospital has sponsored seminars on women's health, cardiac and stroke awareness, cholesterol and blood pressure screenings, and preparation for parenthood.
The hospital recently became part of the Cy-Fair Regional Health Network, a locally focused health network designed to improve access to primary care services in the Cy-Fair area. The network consists of: Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital; Cy-Fair Medical Partners, a physician network that includes four convenient clinics and eight primary care physicians in outlying communities surrounding the hospital; Cypress Fairbanks Urgent Care Center, a minor emergency care facility; and Cy-Fair Professional Building II, a new medical office building slated for completion in spring 2008.
By partnering with the community and providing a vital service to residents, the hospital is uniquely positioned for continued growth of medical services and programs. But even through these times of change, there remains one constant – that Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital will remain true to a mission of providing quality health care that exceeds patients’ expectations.
