Welcome Our New Addition!
The birth of a child is one of the most exciting times of parents’ lives. While most parents do everything they can to ensure their child is born healthy, problems sometimes arise that require a newborn to remain hospitalized longer than expected. That’s where the Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the Women’s Health Center at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital comes in.

The expanded NICU at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital is equipped to handle difficult neonatal emergencies and is staffed with highly skilled health care professionals trained to care for the specific needs of neonatal patients. As a Level III facility, the neonatologists on the medical staff and the nursing staff are prepared to care for some of the sickest, tiniest of babies. We even have a NICU Transport Team at the ready.

What to Expect in a Neonatal ICU
The NICU is the area of the hospital where sick babies receive specialized treatment for infections, birth defects, breathing difficulties, growth restriction and maternal health problems. In addition to extremely premature and low-birth-weight babies, sicker full-term babies in the NICU may be treated for a variety of conditions, including anemia, jaundice, seizures, low blood sugar, or breathing difficulties.

The Level III NICU at Cy-Fair
The new NICU at Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital features twenty-five Level III nursery beds, including two isolation rooms and one private room, and ten continuing care nursery beds, with two being private rooms. The unit is a controlled access department designed to ensure the safety and privacy of newborn patients and their families.

The expansion also includes two private sleep rooms for parents featuring comfortable accommodations, modern décor and flat screen televisions with “on-demand” features such as premium movies, information on hospital services and limited Internet access.

A dedicated pharmacy is located within the NICU and advanced respiratory care - including high frequency ventilation - is readily available.
