What to Expect During a Sleep Study

Most patients are referred to the Cypress Fairbanks Sleep Medicine Center by their primary care physician, who writes a prescription for the test. Once an appointment is made, the patient is scheduled for a sleep study.

Proper diagnosis of sleep disorders sometimes requires an overnight sleep study or polysomnogram. This kind of sleep evaluation includes EEG and EKG monitoring, and tests for eye movements, muscle tension, respiratory activity and blood-oxygen saturation.

Board-certified sleep physicians, registered polysomnographic technologists and professional administrative staff monitor and provide quality sleep diagnostics and treatment.
