Balloon Sinuplasty - Treatment for Sinusitis

More than 37 million Americans are affected by sinusitis every year. Patients tired of battling chronic sinusitis now have another weapon in their fight to relieve the headaches, congestion, facial pain and fatigue caused by inflamed sinus passages.

Balloon sinuplasty is a minimally invasive procedure to clear sinuses and help patients breathe easier. The treatment involves threading a flexible catheter, or small tube, into a narrowed or blocked sinus passageway. The catheter is slowly inflated and then later removed to create a wider opening and restructure flexible sinus bones so mucus can flow normally.

Balloon sinuplasty is performed on an outpatient basis and patients may return to normal activities in about a day.
