ER vs Urgent Care
Care When You Need It
Cy-Fair Hospital provides a full range of services for common medical conditions at our four Emergency Centers and three Urgent Care facilities in the northwest Houston area. Our Emergency Centers offer care for more serious conditions such as severe injury, heart attack or stroke. At our Urgent Care centers, you’ll find care for conditions that need attention, but are not life-threatening.
Knowing that you are in need of Emergency Care rather than Urgent Care is important. According to the American College of Emergency Physicians, warning signs of a medical emergency include:
- Problems breathing
- Chest of upper abdominal pain
- Fainting or sudden dizziness
- Changes in vision
- Uncontrollable bleeding
- Coughing up or vomiting blood
- Confusion or changes in mental status
If you’re in need of medical care for a non-life-threatening condition and are unable to see your primary care doctor right away, your best option may be urgent care.
We understand your time is valuable and visiting a doctor during work hours isn’t always an option — that’s why we’re happy to offer convenient hours every day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. No appointments needed! At our urgent care facilities, you don’t need an appointment to visit — walk-ins are always welcome.
Urgent Care Services
We’re equipped to help treat:
- Sprains, strains and broken bones
- Minor burns and lacerations
- Cold, flu and pneumonia
- Insect bites, stings and allergic reactions
You can find urgent care services at three Cy-Fair Hospital urgent care facilities. These are located right in the community at the intersections of Barker Cypress and West Road, Spring Cypress and Grant, and West Rd. at Beltway 8. See urgent care locations.
Remember, urgent care is not a substitute for emergency care. You should use an emergency department for very serious or life-threatening problems.
